As with most old stone buildings there is a lot of history, may not be glamorous, but it all adds to the character.

The stonework on this particular building was very black due to the nature of past use. The customer, Mr Glyn Wright, a local builder wanted the finished result "fresher and blend in rebuilt parts" but not totally clean.

The front of the building was particularly black, where the kilns were once situated. There was also bitumen stains down the walls which was used for coating manhole covers in years gone by. The bricks around the arches are hand made and required a lighter blast.
The Back of the building which has an extension built from reclaimed bricks.
This is the original wooden crane used for centuries. The dwelling had to be built around this as it is the only one left in existence. Even though this crane had been used to transport molten metal it has survived for 400 years. While we were blasting numerous people "popped in" to see this remarkable item.
This is the garage built from recaimed brick (the same as the extension). This was not intended for blasting, but we tried a small piece to see how it turned out. The colours in the individual brick were lovely sort of rustic and the blasting brought it out.

Mr wright was impressed and decided to have the garage, extension and porch done too.

The same wall as above after blasting.
